06/01/2023 – One suspect died after shooting at military police. The case took place on Thursday night (05/01), in the Divinópolis neighborhood, in Serra. According to police, the man had been arrested last month with weapons in the same neighborhood.
08/01/2023 – A teenager was murdered and her boyfriend was injured in the Feu Rosa neighborhood, in Serra. For the police, the 39-year-old man said he was in the vehicle with his girlfriend when he was approached by criminals who were on a motorcycle. One of the suspects got out and fired at the victims’ car.
09/01/2023 – A house in the Planalto Serrano neighborhood, in Serra, was invaded by three thieves. The crime happened at the moment when the couple, owner of the residence, were at the church, during the night of 8 January. According to the victims, the damage reached R$ 10,000.
10/01/2023 – A 16-year-old teenager was shot in the leg during a robbery on Sunday night (18) in Serra. According to the incident report, the couple was inside an app car, which was intercepted by two criminals. They announced the robbery and, at this moment, the teenager would have reacted, when he was hit by one of the robbers.
12/01/2023 – A Transcol bus was robbed after leaving the Carapina Terminal, in Serra, on the night of Wednesday (11/01), around 20:00. At least eight passengers had their belongings stolen.
13/01/2023 – A suspect who was riding a bicycle tried to rob two victims as they went to work on Friday (13/01), in Jardim Atlântico neighborhood, in Jacaraípe, Serra. They reacted, managed to take the gun from Washington da Silva, 39 years old, and held him until the police arrived.
13/01/2023 – A man suspected of robbing passengers at a bus stop was beaten to death in the José de Anchieta neighborhood, on the banks of BR-101, in Serra. People used pieces of wood during the attacks.
14/01/2023 – A 16-year-old teenager was murdered on Saturday morning (14/01). The victim was hit by multiple gunshots. The case occurred in the Jardim Bela Vista neighborhood, in Serra.
18/01/2023 – A man was found dead with signs of stabbing in a house on Wednesday afternoon (18/01), in Serra Dourada 3, in Serra. The family suspects that a couple of friends have committed the crime.

25/01/2023 – A driver was surrendered by criminals at a liquor store, located in the José de Anchieta neighborhood, in Serra. Criminals tried to take his car, where his companion and two children were waiting for him.
27/01/2023 – The body of a man was found in a thicket in the Taquara II neighborhood, in Serra, on Friday (27). The death, according to the police, is still a mystery. Residents of the region said that, on the night of Thursday (26/01), they heard several shots, but no screams or calls for help. Some people saw the body lying in the woods this morning and called the police.
28/01/2023 – A family was held hostage inside their own home in the Nova Carapina I neighborhood, in Serra. The victims were at gunpoint for about 20 minutes. Criminals wanted the victims car, which was parked in front of the residence.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- Robberies and thefts against pedestrians are among the city’s major risks, the Parque Residencial das Laranjeiras, Jardim Limoeiro, Carapina, Região das Laranjeiras and Novo Horizonte concentrate the highest number of incidents.
- Avoid any display of wealth (jewelry, cell phones), but always carry a small amount of money (R$50) to hand over to muggers.
- In case of robbery: cooperate, do not try to run after the assailant as he or she might not be alone or turn violent.
- Violent drug trafficking gangs are present in the city. People must never access areas controlled by them, such as Bairro de Fátima, Helio Ferraz, Jardim Carapina, all Novas Carapinas, Boa Vista, and São Diogo.
- In the case of being in the immediate vicinity of a shootout: Lay on the ground and seek cover.
- When it is safe to do so, find the nearest building, stay away from windows, do not move unless you are sure that the gunfire has ended.
- Avoid walking alone in poorly lit areas or beaches after nightfall.
- Be always cautious, even in the areas considered safe.
