According to the Secretaria de Segurança do Estado de Sao Paulo, motorcycles theft increased by 40% in comparison with the same period from last year. Indeed, from January to May 2022, thefts went up by 38.46%. This type of crime is very common in the state and can happen at anytime and anywhere, especially due to the fact that motorcycles are often parked in the streets and can be easily stolen even when someone is driving it.

16/07/2022 – The police freed two victims from captivity in Brasilândia, in the North Zone of Sao Paulo. They had been kidnapped by a group of criminals who used date apps to find their victims and force them to make PIX transfers. The police agents seized a fake gun and a revolver. In total, three men and a woman were arrested, and a fifth suspect is still on the run.
17/07/2022 – An engineer was kidnapped by 4 criminals and was forced to make money transfers. He was held in Caixa d’agua favela, in the West Zone of Sao Paulo. In total, the victim transferred R$ 1,200 to his kidnappers and was freed military police officers that were patrolling in the region. The victim had his mobile phone and credit cards stolen. One of the kidnappers arrested had a long criminal record, which include robbery.
18/07/2022 – 4 criminals in a car blocked a vehicle on the road and managed to rob the driver’s belongings, in Jardim Europa, in the West Zone of Sao Paulo. The criminals tried then to rob another car, but the driver accelerated and the bandits decided to flee.
18/07/2022 – A criminal, in a restaurant, observed people eating at a table and managed to rob R$ 50, official documents and a credit card by putting his hands into a woman’s purse while she was talking to her friends. The incident took place in Jardim Miriam, in the South Zone of Sao Paulo. The criminal managed to flee. The action was recorded by security cameras, but the bandit has not been identified yet.

18/07/2022 – Three police officers were arrested after the death of a presumed kidnaper in Osasco, a city in Sao Paulo metropolitan area, on July the 12th. The police officers are accused of having killed the suspect and of having covered the cameras on their uniforms during the action, according to the investigation of the military justice. The investigation also found that the suspect surrendered himself and had his hands up when he was shot dead. On top of that, the gun found next to him had been placed by the police to legitimize its action. The agents were nevertheless released on Wednesday (20/07) after their arrest was revoked.
19/07/2022 – The police arrested a criminal who robbed two women on 23 de Maio Av., in the South Zone of Sao Paulo. The criminal broke the window of the victims’ car and stole one of their cell phones. The robber ran away and got into his partners’ car but the police went after him and managed to arrest both.
19/07/2022 – The police shot dead a criminal who was trying to flee, in the East Zone of Sao Paulo. Him and his group were responsible for assaulting pedestrians and people on the streets. Ten of his companions were arrested by the police.
19/07/2022 – Four criminals took part in an attempted robbery at a restaurant, in Bom Retiro, in the Central Zone of Sao Paulo. During the action, the suspects were surprised by an armed citizen. The man reacted and shot the robbers. One of them died, the other was shot and a third one entered the restaurant and took nine people hostage. After negotiating with the police, he surrendered.
19/07/2022 – Criminals on two motorcycles shot dead a retired military police sergeant during an alleged robbery attempt in Grajau, in the South Zone of Sao Paulo. When the criminals escaped, an elderly woman was hit by a stray bullet. No one was arrested.
20/07/2022 – Police officers arrested two teenagers who were transporting 400kg of drugs in a luxury car in Downtown Sao Paulo. The vehicle was packed with tablets that came from Paraguay. The car was equipped with a smoke emitting system that would mislead the police in case of pursuit.
20/07/2022 – The police arrested two men, suspected of committing an express kidnapping between Wednesday night (20) and early Thursday (21) in the region on Morumbi, in the South Zone of Sao Paulo. According to the military police, the victim owned a business and was approached by three suspects in two cars, when leaving work. The criminals threatened the victim, saying that they would kidnap her if she did complete PIX transfers to them. The victim was allowed to go after transferring R$4,000.
20/07/2022 – A shootout happened between two criminals on a motorcycle and the military police. The criminals approached a biker to rob him, in Campo Limpo, in the South Zone of Sao Paulo, but a nearby police patrol noticed the action and prevented the crime. The two criminals were shot: one of them died and another one was injured.
22/07/2022 – Criminals of the gangue da correntinha continue their violent attacks in Sao Paulo. A student was with a friend in broad daylight, when she was surprised by a group of minors who stole the small chain from her neck and knocked her down in the middle of the street, in Av. Paulista, in the Central Zone of Sao Paulo.
