Making prank calls to the Military Police or firefighters will be expensive from now on. On Thursday, 11th, São Paulo’s Governor Rodrigo Garcia signed a decree that regulates the imposition of fines for those who make a phone call in an attempt to deceive professionals. The amount exceeds R$ 2,000. Administrative punishment in the civil area serves to prevent prank calls from interfering with the work of the police and firefighters. “Unfortunately, this is very common. Just to give you an idea, daily, throughout the state, there are 55,000 calls to 190 and around 3,800 are prank calls”, explains Military Police officer Carlos Marques.
05/08/2022 – A man would have killed his mother-in-law and left his girlfriend injured in the Ermelino Matarazzo neighborhood, East Zone. According to him, mother and daughter would be fighting and ended up stabbing each other. The mother couldn’t resist her injuries. The daughter is hospitalized in serious condition and told the police another version. According to her, the man tried to attack her with a knife and her mother defended her. After killing her mother-in-law, he reportedly tortured his girlfriend so she could record a video saying that she was the author of the crime. The man was arrested and arrived at the police with blood-stained clothes.

06/08/2022 – Two thieves on motorcycles robbed a woman who was walking on Marechal Barbacena Street, in Tatuapé, East Zone. One of the criminals is armed and approaches the girl on the sidewalk. As soon as she hands over her cell phone, another thief appears on another motorcycle. They seem to ask the girl for information, possibly the password for the device or the bank app. As soon as they take the victim’s cell phone, the two flee. The case happened just before 10h.
06/08/2022 – A 25-year-old woman was killed by her ex-husband in the house where she lived with her five children in Vila Ré, East Zone. The crime took place in the early hours of Saturday (06/08), but the body was only found by family members on Sunday night (07). The suspect is the victim’s ex-husband. According to family members, he did not accept the end of the 8-year relationship.
06/08/2022 – A businessman from Tatuapé, East Zone of São Paulo, had a loss of R$ 500,000 after his motorcycle equipment store was invaded by a very well organized gang. The day before the invasion, a criminal posed as an employee of an energy company. This criminal climbed a pole and cut the wires to the store’s security and power monitoring. Afterwards, he left a piece of paper at the door of the store, through which the employees enter. The next day, the accomplices went to the place and if the paper was still on the door, it’s because no one was there.
07/08/2022 – The World jiu-jitsu champion Leandro Lo Pereira do Nascimento, 33 years old, was shot and killed at a party inside Clube Sírio, in the Indianópolis neighborhood, South Zone. The suspect is a military police officer who is already under arrest. According to the family’s lawyer, the fighter had an argument with the man and, to calm the situation, immobilized him. After walking away, the attacker drew a gun and shot the fighter once in the head.
08/08/2022 – A young man was caught by security cameras invading an apartment complex in Tatuapé, East Zone of São Paulo. The boy, who was wearing a mask and a hooded shirt, so as not to be identified, stayed there, circling for a while, and in seconds, he invaded the building and took a resident’s bicycle.
09/08/2022 – A police operation arrested six people and apprehended a teenager suspected of carrying out the “fake date” scam. The gang used the minor as bait, then criminals set up dates through dating apps with the intention of kidnapping the victims. One of the victims lost more than R$ 1 million. The group had another hostage in captivity since Sunday (7).
09/08/2022 – A woman was stabbed by her 16-year-old son on Zike Tuma Street, in Jardim Ubirajara, in the Campo Grande neighborhood, South Zone. According to the Military Police, the teenager reported that the fight would have occurred because of cigarettes.
09/08/2022 – One man was shot and another fled after an off-duty military police officer reacted to an attempted robbery on Bernardino Brito Fonseca de Carvalho Avenue, in Vila Matilde, East Side. Security cameras recorded the crime. The pair, who were on a motorcycle, approached the victim and announced the robbery. Realizing that the men had paired up with the vehicle, the officer got off the motorcycle and quickly shot at then.
10/08/2022 – Three men were shot on Constâncio José Soares Street, in Cidade Ademar neighborhood, South Zone. According to the Military Police, two of them were found dead at the scene. The third person was rescued and remains hospitalized. The place is known for being a drug trafficking point and, at first, the suspicion is that the crime would have been a settlement of scores.
10/08/2022 – A manicure was robbed and assaulted by criminals in Lapa, West Zone. The woman was waiting on the sidewalk for a customer when she was approached by the criminals who assaulted her and took her purse. The thieves have not yet been found, but all belongings have been recovered.

Most robberies happen on the streets to distracted pedestrians. You must always be alert and protect yourself.
- Don’t fiddle with your cell phone and stay alert
- Avoid carrying valuables in bags and backpacks
- If you notice that someone is purposely going the same way as you, walk into a commercial establishment or change sidewalks. If your stalker insists, call the police
- If you are leaving a restaurant, party or commercial point, do not stand on the sidewalk with your cell phone in your hand if you have called a taxi. Wait inside the place where you are until you are sure the driver has arrived
- Definitely never answer the phone or send a text or voice message with your cell phone while walking down the street
- If it’s absolutely vital to answer your phone or send a message, walk into an establishment and pick it up. There, you will be safer and the risk of being robbed is much lower
- And most importantly, never react. Your life is worth far more than anything the criminal may steal
10/08/2022 – A man used a secret passage to escape after a shooting with the Civil Police in the Freguesia do Ó region, North Zone. A second suspect was arrested. The case took place in Vila Bancaria Munhoz. After an investigation, police officers discovered a clandestine car dismantling at the address. They went to the scene and found two suspects. One man was arrested in the act, but the other shot at the agents. The criminal entered a hole and managed to escape.
11/08/2022 – A man was shot by civil police in the Itaquera region, East Zone. According to the director of the Department of Strategic Police Operations (Dope), delegate Artur Dian, police officers were carrying out an incursion into a community when they found the man at a drug trafficking point in the region. He said that the man ran but dropped a portion of drugs. He returned to get the drug but was overtaken by an officer. Also, according to Dian, the man tried to attack the police officer, who reacted quickly and shot him.
11/08/2022 – Military Police arrested two men for breaking into and robbing a residence in Vale do Anhangabaú, downtown São Paulo. During investigations the police discovered that they drugged the victims to facilitate the robbery. Appliances and electronics were found in the car used by the suspects.

- Keep all gates and doors locked even when you are at home

- When someone ring the bell or knock on the door, ask them to identify themselves first

- Don’t talk to strangers about your address, routine habits and belongings

11/08/2022 – A criminal was arrested after a robbery at a Japanese restaurant located on Pinheiros Street, in the West Zone.According to the Military Police, the man entered the place with a paper bag and pretended to be a client using the bathroom. Later, he left the bathroom and announced the robbery, threatening the customers with a simulated gun.
