10/07/2022 – A shooting took place in Leblon neighborhood, South Zone. At least six men were seen running, crawling and one of them firing a rifle on the corner of Borges de Medeiros Avenue and Humberto de Campos Street. After the shooting, four of them get into a luxury car that was parked on the road. According to the Military Police, the first information shows that the armed confrontation was motivated by an attempted robbery.

11/07/2022 – Criminals were caught by security cameras stealing hydrometers in Rio Comprido neighborhood, North Zone. The images show a man jumping over the building’s railing. He goes to the place where the hydrometer of the building is and stays for a while until he manages to remove it.
11/07/2022 – A 28-year-old woman was found dead inside her home in Rio das Pedras neighborhood, West Zone. According to her family, she died of suffocation after a series of assaults. The case is being investigated by the Capital Homicide Police Station (DHC).
11/07/2022 – The Civil Police released an American judge held captive after being kidnapped in Copacabana, South Zone. During the investigations, police found that the victim had received, in the morning, prostitutes in the flat where he was staying. In the afternoon, they returned to the site in the company of two men. The criminals surrendered the American, stole money, took him to an unknown location and began to demand a ransom of R$200,000 for the victim’s release. After a few hours of investigation and negotiation, the victim was released by the police without payment. Erivaldo Juvino Silva, known as Nem da Malvina, was arrested for the crime, he is pointed out as the main head of a militia that operates in Jacarepaguá, West Zone.
12/07/2022 – The Military Police carried out operations in communities in Rio de Janeiro North Zone and in Baixada Fluminense. The objective was to suppress cargo and vehicles theft and combat drug trafficking. In North Zone, the operation took place in the Ficap community, in Jardim América and mobilized officers from ten battalions in the region. Four men were arrested. Radio transmitters, drugs, two grenades, a pistol and ammunition were also seized.
12/07/2022 – A shooting on Leopoldo Bulhões Avenue, in Manguinhos, North Zone, left at least six dead. Two suspected drug dealers were arrested. Police officers from the Bomb Squad were attacked by criminals on their way to Police City. According to the Civil Police, men from the Special Resources Coordination (Core) went to the scene and there was an intense confrontation.
12/07/2022 – A shooting scared drivers on Avenida Brasil in Realengo, in the West Zone. The confrontation, which involved police forces and criminals, forced the road’s closure. According to Military Police, officers were alerted about a vehicle theft, when “in joint action they carried out a tactical siege on Avenida Brasil, close to the Realengo neighborhood, being attacked by firearm shots”.
12/07/2022 – Councilwoman Verônica Costa’s car was the target of an attempted robbery on Brasil Avenue, near Fazenda Botafogo, North Zone. The vehicle was hit by at least two shots.
13/07/2022 – Police officers from six Military Police battalions and Civil Police agents carried out an operation in Cidade de Deus, in Jacarepaguá, West Zone. The objective of the operation is to fulfill arrest warrants, repress drug and arms trafficking and remove barricades set up by criminals at the main access points to the community. An arrest warrant was served. There was no confrontation.
13/07/2022 – Police officers arrested five suspects in Morro do Andaraí, North Zone. Military Police announced that the action aims to comply with arrest warrants issued by the Justice against drug dealers and car and businesses thieves in Greater Tijuca area.
13/07/2022 – Taquara police officers arrested in Cidade de Deus, West Zone, a man accused of sexually abusing his girlfriend’s 14-year-old daughter. The crime happened in May. The suspect, who had the key to the house, took advantage of a moment when the girl’s mother was at work, and she was alone in the residence. The girl’s mother told the police that her boyfriend used a video of her having consensual sex with him to force the teenager to do the same, under threat of publishing the mother’s images on social media. Still according to the woman, the accused also filmed the crime with her daughter, to coerce the girl to be silent and also threatened to share if the young woman told what he did.
13/07/2022 – The Civil Police found the body of 17-year-old Cauã Neres in the Guandu River. Friends of the teenager confessed that they killed him because of a cell phone. Cauã was at a bar with five friends over the weekend. One of his friends’ cell phone disappeared, and Cauã managed to find the device inside a car. However, A friend thought the teenager had stolen his cell phone and regretted having committed the crime. The group put Cauã in a car and said they would take him to his mother. According to investigations, he ended up being beaten to death.
13/07/2022 – A security camera captured the moment in which three thieves robbed customers of a cafeteria in São Cristóvão, North Zone. The crime happened around 20h.
14/07/2022 – A police operation seized about 300 kg of marijuana in the Nova Holanda community, in Complexo da Maré, North Zone. According to Military Police, the action was intended to curb vehicles and cargo theft, remove barricades and arrest suspects with an open arrest warrant.
