13/01/2023 – The Military Police conducted an operation in Campinho, in Rio de Janeiro’s North Zone, in the morning. 9 criminals were arrested, and 11 assault rifles were seized.

13/01/2023 – Agents from the Niterói, São Gonçalo and Itaboraí Homicide Precinct (DHNSG) arrested Felipe Cerqueira Martins, better known as Felipe Jaqueta, Tijuca, in Rio de Janeiro’s North Zone. According to the Civil Police, Felipe is brother-in-law of Márcio dos Santos Nepomuceno, known as Marcinho VP, and would have links to drug trafficking in Rio. According to the investigations, Felipe pretended to be a successful landowner, when, in fact, he was articulating the purchase of ammunition from the USA to communities dominated by drug trafficking.
16/01/2023 – An intense shootout between criminals took place in Gardênia Azul, in Rio de Janeiro’s West Zone, at 19:00. At least two people were harmed. Witnesses also informed that approximately ten criminals robbed two cars to escape the area.
16/01/2023 – The Civil Police from Rio Grande do Sul state arrested the most wanted criminals in the state in a restaurant in Barra da Tijuca, in Rio de Janeiro’s West Zone. The criminal was an airplane pilot and took part in an international drug trafficking scheme between Peru and Bolíiva that brought 400kg of cocaine a week to Brazil. Authorities also ordered the seizure of 38 properties, 115 vehicles and two airplanes that belonged to him. The police informed that he was connected to the Mexican Sinaloan Cartel.
17/01/2023 – The Civil Police conducted an operation in Complexo do Lins, in Rio de Janeiro’s North Zone, in the morning. A shootout between criminals and police officers took place and a woman was hit by a stray bullet. 11 criminals were arrested. The action aimed the criminal organization Comando Vermelho, which has a strong presence in the area and use the favela to receive and process stolen vehicles and cargo.
17/01/2023 – Rio de Janeiro’s Civil Police arrested Josué Ferreira dos Santos, lawyer from the infamous drug trafficker Rogério Avelino da Silva, aka Rogério 157, former druglord of Rocinha, in Rio de Janeiro’s South Zone, after he was caught trying to bribe a government agent into facilitating Rogério’s transfer to a prison in the state. 157 is currently arrested in a maximum-security prison in Rondônia, in the North Region of the contry.
17/01/2023 – The Military Police found a hideout used by militiamen in Terreirão, in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, in Rio de Janeiro’s West Zone. A pistol, a revolver and ammunitions were seized.
17/01/2023 – A criminal on a motorcycle was arrested with a revolver on Saint Roman St., in Copacabana, in Rio de Janeiro’s South Zone.
17/01/2023 – A group of criminals committed a series of pedestrian robberies in Pavuna, in the city’s North Zone. However, they were intercepted by the Military Police and a shootout happened. The criminals tried to escape and crashed into a bus. The criminals ran into Complexo da Pedreira.
18/01/2023 – A criminal stole a vehicle on Ave. Vieira Souto, in Ipanema, at Posto 9 height, in Rio de Janeiro’s South Zone. The driver left the vehicle open on the street to handle goods to a kiosk on the beach, when the thief entered the vehicle and drove away with it. Nevertheless, the victim’s cell phone was kept in the car and the police was able to track its GPS location on Borges de Medeiros Ave., in Lagoa, still de in the South Zone, next to Flamengo’s Football Club. The police shot the vehicle three times. The criminal escaped.
18/01/2023 – The Military Police conducted several operations in different locations of Rio de Janeiro’s North Zone: Morro dos Bancários (Ilha do Governador); Chapadão and Pedreira complexes (Acari and Pavuna); and Manguinhos favela.
18/01/2023 – The police arrested four women suspected of practicing phone scams. The office was located on Avenida Presidente Vargas, downtown, and it offered, in its own call center, a 40% profit on a pre-existing loan if the customer opted for loan portability.
