27/02/2023 – A man was shot dead inside his car in the Parque Aeroporto neighborhood. According to the Military Police, officers were called to Rua Padre Ventura to verify the incident. At the scene, they found the man already dead. He was murdered inside his own vehicle, at the gate of the house where he lived. The criminals fled in a red vehicle. So far, no information about the authorship and motivation of the crime.

27/02/2023 – A man was arrested in the Imbetiba neighborhood after stealing a cell phone. The criminal was arrested by the Present Security Program agents. The team was on a patrol when approached by the victim, reporting that the cell phone had been stolen and that the criminal was heading towards the Remada hotel. Officers went to the scene and approached him with the robbery proceeds.
05/03/2023 – A couple was found dead near a quarry, close to BR-101. The bodies were found with gunshot marks, with the woman being hit in the stomach and face and the man with a shot in the face. Civil Police are investigating the case and so far, no suspect has been arrested.
07/03/2023 – Three men were arrested accused of receiving equipment from offshore companies during an action by the Civil Police. According to the incident, officers carried out operations to comply with a search and seizure warrant to identify stolen equipment based on fraudulent contracts. 52 pieces of equipment were recovered, valued at R$ 1 million and 500 thousand. Three men were arrested. To succeed in the fraud, criminals used data from reputable companies, false names, hired third parties to transport the stolen materials and then transferred the equipment in places that did not pose risks to them.
09/03/2023 – Three drug dealers were arrested after a shooting with the Military Police on the banks of the Macaé River, in the Nova Holanda neighborhood, following a complaint that drug dealers were packaging drugs for sale. During the confrontation, the criminals jumped into the water and three were captured. In addition to cocaine, bags, scales, sieve and two blenders were seized.
16/03/2023 – A man was arrested with drugs at Macaé Airport, during a joint operation by the Federal and Civil Police. According to the police, the action was aimed at combating arms and drug trafficking in air transport.
20/03/2023 – Three criminals were arrested by the Military Police for drug trafficking in the Engenho da Praia community. The action took place during a patrolling along 9th Street, where officers came across several individuals in a smokehouse, belonging to a criminal faction. As they approached, the men tried to flee, but three of them were arrested. During searches in the nearby woods, the police found a bag containing narcotics and money.
23/03/2023 – Macaé Police Station officers launched the first phase of the “Fury Road” operation, aimed at repressing cargo thefts in Macaé. The arrests are part of an investigation into a cargo theft at a gas station. At the time, three criminals kidnapped a truck driver who was resting, and then fled taking the truck and cargo. Two people were arrested, including the leader of one of the main cargo theft gangs in the interior of the state.
28/03/2023 – Civil Police arrested a man for stealing products in a supermarket on Avenida Evaldo Costa, in the Sol & Mar neighborhood. According to information, employees triggered the police reporting what happened and informing about the criminals’ presence. Officers immediately went to the supermarket and made the arrest.

- After dark, avoid Glória and the Centro (Downtown).
- After dark, avoid walking alone in Praia Campista and Cavaleiros.
- Avoid Lagomar, Barra de Macaé, Engenho da Praia, Planalto da Ajuda, Ajuda de Cima, Ajuda de Baixo, Morro de Santana and Morro de São Jorge (in Paraíso), Fronteira, Jardim Maringá, Barra, Nova Holanda, Malvinas, Botafogo, Aroeira, Parque Aeroporto and the surroundings of Favela da Linha (in between Visconde de Araújo and Cajueiros), as risks of collateral damage and assault are high in these areas.
- As much as possible, restrict movement in the districts of Novo Horizonte (in Vale Encantado) and Parque Aeroporto. Do not walk alone in these areas and use only licensed taxis.
- Be careful when walking downtown, avoid exposing valuables.
- Be always cautious, including in areas perceived as safe.
- Avoid any display of wealth (jewelry, cell phones), but always carry a small amount of money (R$50) to hand.
