123rd Police Battalion had historical reduction of crime reported in November. Compared to the same month of last year, carjacking cases decreased of 70%, with only 3 cases registered in November 2023. Street thefts also dropped significantly of 74% to 09 cases registered. Freight robbery is probably the best scoring of this month with no case registered for the entire year. This has been possible only due to the increase of patrols and intelligence against organized crime.
03/12/2023 – A 5yo child died in a drowning in the Lagoa de Imboassica, South Macaé, while he was accompanied of his aunt. The ER has quickly rescued the little boy and took him to the hospital. But despite all efforts of the rescue teams, the boy did not make it.

04/12/2023 – A fugitive has been arrested by officers from the Segurança Presente task force, in the Centre of Macaé. Indeed, the police were on patrol when they saw a man with a suspicious attitude. Though, they proceeded to a standard ID control. The ID he gave to the cops was false. The officers went for further verifications and noticed the man was a very dangerous fugitive from Pernambuco State, and that a search warrant was active for homicide, drug trafficking and criminal conspiracy.
12/12/2023 – A 30yo man fell from a room of Hotel Mercure in Cancela Preta, South Macaé. First information pointed out that he did not resist to the fall and died on the spot.
26/12/2023 –Shots were heard during a Christmas event in Praia Campista, South Macaé, causing panic and leading people to evacuate the event. Youths were dancing near a sound truck when they heard the gunshots. A young man was injured.
28/12/2023 – Citizens of Macaé were arrested for burglary of grass panels and flowers on a roundabout in Virgem Santa, Centre of Macaé. Indeed, since March 2023, the metropolitan secretary of environment and the police has received various complaints of citizens about people taking things from public works, including grass and flowers. Macaé city hall has informed the roundabouts and construction site will be monitored.

- After dark, avoid Glória and the Centro (Downtown).
- After dark, avoid walking alone in Praia Campista and Cavaleiros.
- Avoid Lagomar, Barra de Macaé, Engenho da Praia, Planalto da Ajuda, Ajuda de Cima, Ajuda de Baixo, Morro de Santana and Morro de São Jorge (in Paraíso), Fronteira, Jardim Maringá, Barra, Nova Holanda, Malvinas, Botafogo, Aroeira, Parque Aeroporto and the surroundings of Favela da Linha (in between Visconde de Araújo and Cajueiros), as risks of collateral damage and assault are high in these areas.
- As much as possible, restrict movement in the districts of Novo Horizonte (in Vale Encantado) and Parque Aeroporto. Do not walk alone in these areas and use only licensed taxis.
- Be careful when walking downtown, avoid exposing valuables.
- Be always cautious, including in areas perceived as safe.
- Avoid any display of wealth (jewelry, cell phones), but always carry a small amount of money (R$50) to hand.
