23/07/2022 – A man suffered an attempted murder in Praça da Ampra, in Parque Aeroporto. Residents reported a chase, followed by a shooting. The victim was taken to the Municipal Public Hospital (HPM), where he remained hospitalized. There are still no clues about the authorship and motivation of the criminal action.

30/07/2022 – A man, identified only as Buiu, died after being shot during a shooting with Military Police (PM) in the Nova Holanda community. According to the PM, officers received information that the criminal appointed as the manager of drug trafficking in the region, would be hiding there along with several other elements. During a patrol at the scene, they were met by gunshots and retaliated.
01/08/2022 – Two men were arrested in the Nova Holanda neighborhood with gun, drugs and ammunition. Tactical Action Group (GAT) officers were walking along Coqueiro’s Street when they spotted two fleeing elements, one with a pistol in hand and the other with a backpack. The duo was chased and captured on Acacias Street. In the action, a 9mm pistol, 78 ammunition, nine radios and drugs were seized.
07/08/2022 – A fight between two criminal factions ended with two men dead and three injured. According to the report, the crimes took place in the Fronteira community – which is dominated by the ADA faction, after criminals of the rival CV faction went to the scene and shot at a group, hitting two people. Also, according to the police, ADA elements went to W-12 Street in a car and shot other two people in retaliation. The attacks were motivated by the capture of a CV member by ADA.
09/08/2022 – The Military Police (PM) arrested a man with a pistol and a radio communicator in the Aroeira neighborhood. According to the PM, officers were walking along Leopoldina Araújo Street, when they had their attention turned to the man who, realizing the presence of the vehicle, crossed the street and tried to flee. He was approached and had a pistol and ammunition, as well as a radio transmitter.
11/08/2022 – A couple was found stabbed to death on Coronel Cizenando Street, in Visconde neighborhood. According to the Military Police, officers were called to the scene to verify the occurrence of a corpse and located the man and woman with several knife wounds, including in the neck, in a vacant lot. So far, there is no information on the reason behind the crime and the suspect is still at large.
11/08/2022 – A man was arrested after robbing a woman and a farm in the Parque Aeroporto neighborhood. The criminal was captured in Ajuda de Baixo. According to the Military Police, the agents received information about the crimes committed by two men on a motorcycle and that the accused had fled. In diligence, the criminals were located. After a brief shooting, one of those involved was eventually captured.
15/08/2022 – An attempted attack on a community belonging to a rival faction ended with five people shot and one arrested in Lagomar. According to the Military Police (PM), officers received complaints that criminals of the ADA faction were going to invade the community, dominated by the Comando Vermelho. PM then mounted a tactical siege. The group’s vehicles were intercepted, and the criminals shot at the police, initiating an intense shooting. Three rifles, a pistol and two stolen vehicles were seized.
23/08/2022 – Two men were arrested with drug trafficking material in the Lagomar community. According to the Military Police, officers received privileged information that there was an abandoned house on R. W26 that was being used by criminals. At the scene, the military found two men, with drugs, radio communicator and other trafficking materials.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- After dark, avoid Glória and the Centro (Downtown).
- After dark, avoid walking alone in Praia Campista and Cavaleiros.
- Avoid Lagomar, Barra de Macaé, Engenho da Praia, Planalto da Ajuda, Ajuda de Cima, Ajuda, Morro de Santana and Morro de São Jorge (in Paraíso), Jardim Maringá, Barra, Nova Holanda, Malvinas, Botafogo, Aroeira, Parque Aeroporto and the surroundings of Favela da Linha (in between Visconde de Araújo and Cajueiros), as risks of collateral damage and assault are high in these areas.
- As much as possible, restrict movement in the districts of Novo Horizonte (in Vale Encantado) and Aeroporto. Do not walk alone in these areas and use only licensed taxis.
- Be always cautious, including in areas perceived as safe.
- Avoid any display of wealth (jewelry, cell phones), but always carry a small amount of money (R$50) to hand.
