The Justice and Public Security technical group of the government transition team informed on Wednesday (23/11) that it is considering proposing that the Lula government buy back weapons and change licenses to reduce arsenals that are in the hands of civilians.
According to future senator Flávio Dino, one of the group’s coordinators, it is necessary to discuss a “modulation” of the quantity of weapons that are already in the hands of the population, with the aim of taking out of circulation, for example, larger calibers. The senator-elect also stated that the group is studying another measure to remove weapons from circulation at “a faster pace”. According to him, as there is no acquired right to carry weapons, the authorizations given by the State could be automatically revoked.
