01/06/2023 – A criminal involved in drug trafficking was shot during a shooting with Military Police (PM) on Rua dos Cajueiros, in Morro do Perez. The Military Police went to the address to make a routine round. Upon arriving at the scene, officers were met with gunfire by two armed men and fought back. After the shooting ended, the criminals fled through streets close to the confrontation. Still according to the PM, a gun and drugs were seized at the crime scene.

09/06/2023 – A shooting between criminals involved in drug trafficking and military police ended with two people shot at Morro da Glória I. According to the Military Police, officers were on patrol when they were shot at and shot back. The criminals fled to a forested area and, upon being found, started a new confrontation. Two men were hit by the shots. One of them carried a revolver and the other a pistol. Both weapons were seized, in addition to drugs.
16/06/2023 – A man was shot dead and three people were injured at a nightclub in the Parque Mambucaba neighborhood. According to the Military Police, witnesses said that two hooded and armed bandits invaded the establishment. One of the criminals stood at the door and the other shot at the victims. They fled soon after.
16/06/2023 – Military police seized drugs on Morro do Santo Antônio, in downtown Angra dos Reis, during an operation. Around 8:30, the police were checking the information that there were hidden guns in the community when they saw a criminal. He tried to run away but was caught. According to officers, the rifle was hidden in a plastic barrel. In his backpack, crack stones, cocaine pins and marijuana were found.
22/06/2023 – Two men died after a shooting with the Military Police (PM) on Rua da Restauração, in the Lambicada neighborhood. According to the PM, officers were on patrol around when they were targeted by the shots fired by criminals and fought back. A pistol, a grenade and drugs were seized.
24/06/2023 – A 25-year-old man was executed with rifle shots inside a car during the early hours of the morning on Avenida São José, in the Parque Belém neighborhood. According to the Military Police, the shots were fired by criminals who were in another car. The criminals fled after the crime.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- Shootouts remain the main risk facing personnel in Angra dos Reis. Several security operations related to drug trafficking were also registered this month.
- In the case of being in the immediate vicinity of a shootout:
- Lay on the ground and seek cover.
- When it is safe to do so, find the nearest building, stay away from windows, do not move until the gunfire has clearly ended.
- Attention to the sounds of shots when driving through BR-101, which has on its margins many gang-controlled zones.
- Be cautious when in the vicinity of ‘communities’, particularly: Downtown, Parque Belém, Sapinhatuba I, Sapinhatuba II, Sapinhatuba III, Areal, Parque Mambucaba and Morro da Glória I e II.
- Avoid stopping on BR-101 roadside, due to cases of robberies, especially in the most isolated areas.
- Be careful when walking downtown as there is a risk of petty crimes.
- After nightfall, avoid circulating on the BR-101, due to the increased risk of robbery and assault.
