04/04/2023 – A man was arrested, and a game machine was seized during an operation against organized crime in the Sapinhatuba I, II and III neighborhoods. According to the Military Police, the purpose of the action was to arrest criminals and seize materials used in possible confrontations against rival communities.
10/04/2023 – A team from the Military Police Battalion seized drugs in Morro da Fortaleza. According to the report, the operation was carried out by the Tactical Actions Group (GAT) during patrolling in the locality. Several pins of cocaine were seized. Nobody was arrested.
21/04/2023 – A mechanic was killed by a stray bullet during a shooting that left four criminals dead in the Lambicada neighborhood. According to the Military Police, officers were patrolling the area and, when they were attacked by six armed criminals. When the shooting ended, the police found four criminals lying on the ground, a rifle, three pistols, two grenades and two radio transmitters.
22/04/2023 – A man was found dead with several holes in his body on the roadside of the BR-101 (Rio-Santos Highway), close to Brava Beach. According to the Federal Highway Police, the victim was approximately 40 years old and was murdered with axes and knives. So far, no one has been arrested and the motive for the crime is still unknown.
26/04/2023 – A man was shot, and a 17-year-old teenager apprehended during a Military Police operation against drug trafficking in Morro do Santo Antônio. There, the police found a monitoring center with cameras at strategic points to watch people entering and leaving the communit
TRENDS & ADVICE
- Shootouts remain the main risk facing personnel in Angra dos Reis. Several security operations related to drug trafficking were also registered this month.
- In the case of being in the immediate vicinity of a shootout:
- Lay on the ground and seek cover.
- When it is safe to do so, find the nearest building, stay away from windows, do not move until the gunfire has clearly ended.
- Attention to the sounds of shots when driving through BR-101, which has on its margins many gang-controlled zones.
- Be cautious when in the vicinity of ‘communities’, particularly: Downtown, Parque Belém, Sapinhatuba I, Sapinhatuba II, Sapinhatuba III, Areal, Parque Mambucaba and Morro da Glória I e II.
- Avoid stopping on BR-101 roadside, due to cases of robberies, especially in the most isolated areas.
- Be careful when walking downtown as there is a risk of petty crimes.
- After nightfall, avoid circulating on the BR-101, due to the increased risk of robbery and assault.
