According to information disclosed by media sources on Thursday (06/10), the Federal Government is articulating to change the directors of Petrobras to prevent fuel prices from increasing before the second round of the presidential election, when the candidate for re-election, President Jair Bolsonaro, will face former President Lula.
The Barriers
The new president of the state-owned company, Caio Paes de Andrade, wants to change the boards that take care of price analysis in the company: Finance and Marketing and Logistics. Andrade also wants to change the command of the Governance and Compliance Board. Such changes would be necessary in order to have more control over the price policy, since these are the groups responsible for this aspect.
Change in Scenario
In the last months, a drop in the price of a barrel of oil on the international market, allowed a reduction in the value of diesel and gasoline. There have been five reductions in the price of gasoline and three of diesel since Andrade took over the company. However, the current scenario has changed. The price of oil rose again, especially after OPEC reduced oil production, generating upward pressure.
