On Tuesday (07/06), President Jair Bolsonaro criticized the Supreme Court (STF) once more after its 2nd Panel of Judges reestablished the decision that removed from office Fernando Francischini, a Government ally. Francischini was elected Federal Deputy, but in October 2021, he was removed from his position for disclosing fake news regarding the electoral process. However, on Thursday (02/06), STF Minister Nunes Marques took a monocratic decision and allowed Francischini to retake his position. Then, a few days later, the 2nd Panel reversed Nunes’ decision and maintained October’s verdict, leading the President to criticize the judges, particularly Superior Electoral Court (TSE) President Edson Fachin, whom him called “Marxist-Leninist”. On Monday (06/06), Bolsonaro had already criticized Fachin, saying that the minister gave decisions favorable to Lula and he is now at the head of the TSE acting to elect the former President in an “unacceptable” way.
Also, on Tuesday (07/06), President Jair Bolsonaro accused Supreme Court (STF) Minister Alexandre de Moraes of having failed to comply with points of an agreement sewn by former president Michel Temer, after acts carried out on September 7th of last year. Temer brokered a conversation between the two with the aim of trying to establish a truce in the institutional conflict between the Executive and the Judiciary. In a note released after the president’s statement, Temer says that “there were no conditions” and “nor should there be”, because they dealt with “a joint gesture of goodwill (…)”.
