PROTESTS TAKE PLACE IN RIO DE JANEIRO

On Saturday morning (28/05), a protest took pace downtown Rio de Janeiro. The act was against violent deaths caused by security forces. Protesters called for transparency and rigor in the investigations of the 23 deaths in Vila Cruzeiro that occurred during an operation on May 26th. People also protested the death of Genivaldo de Jesus Santos, a 38 year old man who was suffocated to death inside a Federal Highway Police vehicle in Sergipe.

On Thursday (02/06), acts “in defense of Petrobras” were carried out at the bases of the unions affiliated to the Federação Única dos Petroleiros (FUP) and the Federação Nacional dos Petroleiros (FNP) in various parts of the country. In Rio de Janeiro, between 6 am and 9 am, there was a mobilization of oil tankers in front of the Metropolitan Arch, close to the Duque de Caxias Refinery (Reduc), in Duque de Caxias (Metropolitan Region). During the act, buses with workers had their access blocked. There was a delay in the change of shifts and in the entry of workers. There was adhesion of the majority of the employees, but without operational impacts.
