On Thursday (09/06), during a meeting with businessmen, Economy Minister Paulo Guedes said that the government will not be able to give a readjustment to federal public servants this year. History of Comings and Goings
Since the beginning of 2022, an election year, the federal government has been trying to find a way to give public servants a readjustment, but it has run into tighter public accounts. Initially, R$ 1,74 billion from the Government budget were reserved for a readjustment exclusive to Federal Police forces. However, this led to protests and strikes among other federal servants, which forced authorities to make a new plan that would contemplate all servants. According to the last updates, the new idea was to give a 5% increase for all employees in the Federal Executive. Nonetheless, even this proposal did not satisfy Federal servants, many considered it insufficient. Now, the government seems to have completely changed its mind. On Monday (06/06), the Economy Ministry even reported to have used the R$ 1,74 billion to compensate an unexpected increase in expenses in other areas.
