On Thursday (20/10), the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) informed that it will carry out the integrity test with biometrics in electronic voting machines also in the second round. The integrity test is traditionally carried out on election day by the Electoral Court, accompanied by an external audit. It consists of registering pre-defined votes in a separate box, to verify that the typed vote will be counted.
Biometrics of Real Voters
The novelty this year is that the test now has biometrics of real voters. Before, the votes of the integrity test were typed by Electoral Justice servants without biometrics. The inclusion of biometrics, which was already put into practice in the first round, is a demand from the Ministry of Defense, which is part of the Transparency Commission for the elections.
Election’s Report by the Armed Forces
During the first round of the elections, the Armed Forces prepared a report of these tests. Then, TSE President Alexandre de Moraes, asked the Defense Ministry to forward a copy of documents produced after monitoring the first round. However, the Ministry said that the material does not yet exist. It informed that a complete document about the first and second rounds will be produced 30 days after the elections.
