On Wednesday (15/06), the Central Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee (Copom) unanimously decided to raise the Selic rate from 12,75% per year to 13,25% per year – an increase of 0,5 percentage point. This is the 11th consecutive increase in the basic interest rate of the economy. After that, the Selic reached the highest level since December 2016, when it was at 13,75% per year.
