01/01/2023 – Two men were arrested for applying scams with credit and debit card machines. According to the Federal Highway Police, the criminals passed the card for the agreed amount, but higher amounts were debited. Upon being approached, they tried to flee by car, but were reached by police officers in the Center. When doing a search through the vehicle, adulterated card machines and marijuana were found.

06/01/2023 – A man was shot dead on Estrada Angra Getulândia, in the Japuíba neighborhood. According to the Fire Department, the 25-year-old victim was already lifeless when they arrived at the scene. The Angra dos Reis police station is investigating the case.
10/01/2023 – A criminal was injured during a shooting between Military Police (PM) and criminals in Morro da Caixa’Água. With the man the PM seized a gun and drugs. According to the police, the team was making a routine patrol when they were shot at and fought back.
16/11/2023 – Two drug traffickers, one of them a pregnant woman, were arrested in Angra dos Reis’ Bus Terminal, downtown. Cocaine, “lança-perfume” and crack were seized with them. According to the police, the criminal got the drugs in Rio de Janeiro.
17/01/2023 – A shootout between police officers and drug traffickers took place in Água Santa. One criminal was shot, but three others escaped. 18/01/2023 – The police seized drugs in Sapinhatuba II. A drug trafficker escaped.
25/01/2023 – A confrontation between the Military Police and criminals happened in Sapinhatuba II.
26/01/2023 – A shootout between drug traffickers and the Military Police took place in Bracuí. One criminal was shot dead, and a pistol was seized.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- Shootouts remain the main risk facing personnel in Angra dos Reis. Several security operations related to drug trafficking were also registered this month.
- In the case of being in the immediate vicinity of a shootout:
- Lay on the ground and seek cover.
- When it is safe to do so, find the nearest building, stay away from windows, do not move until the gunfire has clearly ended.
- Attention to the sounds of shots when driving through BR-101, which has on its margins many gang-controlled zones.
- Be cautious when in the vicinity of ‘communities’, particularly: Downtown, Parque Belém, Sapinhatuba I, Sapinhatuba II, Sapinhatuba III, Areal, Parque Mambucaba and Morro da Glória I e II.
- Avoid stopping on BR-101 roadside, due to cases of robberies, especially in the most isolated areas.
- Be careful when walking downtown as there is a risk of petty crimes.
- After nightfall, avoid circulating on the BR-101, due to the increased risk of robbery and assault.
